AEDD works with local employers to secure competitive employment for persons served by AEDD. Staff works with each individual to determine the type of employment that best meets the skills and interests of the individual. The AEDD representative then contacts potential employees in the community to develop a job.

A job coach is assigned to help train the newly-hired individual. As the individual becomes more proficient and able to work unassisted, the job coach gradually withdraws from the work site. Thereafter, the job coach is available to the individual throughout their working career for assistance and support. Regular follow-up visits are made to enhance success. The goal of this program is to find meaningful work which allows these individuals an opportunity to become productive, self-supportive citizens.
